Brazilian Lemonade

I love, love, love Tucanos Brazilian Lemonade. I'm not usually a fan of citrus drinks, but this is just the perfect combination of tang and sweet that it's hard not to love. Now with summer making its appearance, I decided to look up a recipe for Brazilian Lemonade so I can make this sweet beverage right at home!
[Recipe courtesy of Our Best Bites]

Here's what you'll need:

4 juicy limes
1 cup of sugar
6 cups of cold water
6 Tbsp. of sweetened condensed milk

First, you mix the cold water and sugar and stick it in the fridge to chill.

Next, clean your limes (wait, then shouldn't it be called limeade? hmmm...) with soap and water to get the wax and pesticides off (because you're putting the actual limes in the mixture, not just the juice)

Cut the ends off the limes and chop those babies into 8ths.

Now place 1/2 of the limes and 1/2 of the sugar water into the blender. Pulse 5 times. If you pulse 6 times, you're a goner.

Put a fine-mesh strainer over your favorite pitcher and pour the blended mixture through the strainer and into the pitcher. Throw out the leftover pulp. Repeat with the remaining limes and sugar aqua.

If you're a genius like me and use a colander, MAKE SURE you do this process over the sink. Or you'll be in a sticky situation.

Now comes the sweet goodness. Add sweet condensed milk. I threw in a little more sweetness than the required amount because I have a crazy sweet tooth. I recommend you taste test it at this point and add more (or not) according to your preference.

And voila! You've got yourself a copycat Tucanos Brazilian Lemonade! The recipe indicates that this doesn't keep well so I wouldn't recommend making this in advance. It apparently serves 4 (I doubled the recipe, hence why in some of the pictures there is a large amount of mixture). Also, serve it with ice because it tastes best nice and cold.

My husband approves!

Happy Summer! Cheers!
