Foodie Friday // Aunty Becki's Salsa

Friday, August 9, 2013

One thing I love to do is collect recipes. If I'm at a party and I eat something that is completely delicious, I turn into a creeper lady who stalks down the person who made it and begs for the recipe.

Last summer I had this amazing salsa while I was hanging out with some friends and family out at the Great Salt Lake. After many compliments, Becki, the woman who made the salsa, was kind enough to give me the recipe!

*I've tweaked the recipe to be a little less spicy than it usually is. I know, I'm a wimp!

Aunty Becki's Salsa

1/2 bunch of cilantro
1 medium onion - chopped
6 cloves of garlic
2 - (14.5 oz) cans of diced tomatoes
*to spice things up use 2 cans of Rotel diced tomatoes instead, one with green chilies and one with habanero chilies
2 - (8 oz) cans of tomato sauce
1 tsp black pepper
2 tsp cumin
2 tsp salt
2 Tbsp lime juice
2 Tbsp sugar
1/4 cup vinegar

Put all ingredients in the blender and pulse it up!

This recipe makes a lot, so feel free to half it!

I seriously swear by this salsa. It's so YUMMY!

  2. If this is the salsa we made at my apartment that one night...then I can definitely attest to its deliciousness. We make it all the time!!
