Not all who wander are lost

Kimono: c/o Oasap
Hat: c/o Oasap
Necklace: old

My childhood consisted a lot of climbing trees and building fortresses.
On the weekends, my friends and I would spend hours exploring the forest in our backyards--seeing how far we could go before we hit a dead end or ended up in a random person's backyard. I remember finding gorgeous open fields (like, Bella and Edward's secret spot status) and lying in the grass, just enjoying the peacefulness of the place. We would see how high we could climb the trees and how fast we could run through the pathways we created.

Life was so simple then.
The only thing we ever worried about was what time we had to be home for dinner.
Our imaginations ran wild and our craving for adventure was at full throttle.
We all wandered, but were never lost.
We could always find our way back out of the forest.
We had nothing to lose, because we had everything to gain.

Forests will always have a special place in my heart.
They remind me of the simplicity of my childhood
and how eager I used to be to explore whatever was out there.

Sometimes I get stuck in a rut and find myself getting too comfortable with being stuck in one place.
I need to remind myself that it's okay to wander.
It's okay to explore the world and see what else is out there.
See what life has to offer.
See what talents I discover.

Back then I had my friends to explore our backyards with.
Now, I've got my husband to explore the world with.

In the wise words of Charles Muntz,

"Adventure is out there!"

Cheers.

  9. love this outfit!! And I completely agree about the forest holding a special place in my heart. My friends and I used to go on "adventures" every day out into the woods. I still have a huge love for being outdoors. My husband and i go on a lot of long hikes during the warm months.

  10. I used to climb trees - a real tomboy, and my cousins all lived in the country so going to see them and explore was a real treat (the city justb doesn't hold such adventure or safety for a small child). your outfit perfectly compliments your words. how beautiful! it's so important to remind ourselves that it is okay to explore and try new things - I try and engage myself in new activities all the time to keep breaking normal routines as thats so important for me. x
