It's finally Friday and the last look of my WATERMELONS FOR DAYS series!
[If you missed look 1 and 2, go here and here]

For this outfit I incorporated watermelons into a more dressier look. It's still light and fun, but polished enough to wear to a party! Maybe to an end of summer beach bash perhaps? I also loooove the watermelon print on this t-shirt from Oasap, as well as the overall distressed look of it! Watermelons never looked so fancyyyyy.

Well, I hope you folks enjoyed my watermelon fashion series!
Not gonna lie, although I'm excited to pull out my sweaters and scarves for fall, I'm going to miss being able to walk out of my house in a t-shirt and shorts and not freeze my butt off! I'm also going to miss being able to wear bright, fun watermelon shirts without feeling ridiculous ;)

I really can't believe next week is September!
I mean, before we know it, we'll be doing this:
Which I could hold off on for a little while more (the snow part at least).

Have a great Labor Day weekend everyone!

Cheers.

WATERMELONS FOR DAYS: Look 2

Wednesday, August 27, 2014

Tank Top: c/o Oasap
Swimsuit: c/o Oasap
Shorts: old
Sandals: Target

Welcome to Look dos of my WATERMELON FOR DAYS end-of-summer series!
If you missed the first look, view it here.

Today's an outfit I wish I could've worn every day this summer, because it would have meant that I was at the beach every day! This cute watermelon tank top is the perfect swimsuit cover-up and just perfect in general. It's loose, flowy, and screams summer! Also, I am indeed sporting a half up bun today because I realized I need to branch out when it comes to my hairdos (if you noticed I even braided my hair in Monday's post, what whaaat). I used to be able to do so many crazy things with my hair when it was longer (mostly because it had a mind of its own), so I'm trying to figure out the most flattering hairstyles for my shorter hair! So what do you guys think so far? Is the half up bun a thumbs up? .....or down?

Friday we're finishing the series off with a dressy watermelon look!
I know what you're thinking: Watermelons can be dressy??
Well, check back in to see what I put together for the final look!

Also, from this gif, can anyone guess what movie I'm watching right now?
"Joanie loves Chachi!!!"
Seriously, one of my favorite movies ever.

Cheers.

With summer quickly winding down, I figure I would squeeze in one last summer fashion series!
The theme of this week?
WATERMELONZZZZ.
There seemed to be a fruit craze this summer (mainly pineapples) and since watermelons are one of my favorite fruits, why not end the summer with some outfits dedicated to the yummy gourd?

This first look is your casual, i-need-to-go-out-and-run-errands-so-i'll-put-on-this-comfy-but-cute-outfit-in-case-i-run-into-anyone-that-matters outfit. We've all got a few of those get-ups right? The pink shorts and watermelons really make the outfit pop, which I love! I feel like this t-shirt is something I would have worn in first grade, which makes me love it even more. Is that weird?
#kidatheart #kindergartenchic

On Wednesday I'll be sharing my watermelon beach outfit, so check in for that!

This is the part where I would update you on my life, but my life has been pretty boring for me so let's update you on Samson's life, shall we? :)

Samson still disapproves of my blogging and does all he can to prevent me from doing it.
(read this post to see what I'm talking about)

Samson has a new game he likes to play in the mornings.
It's called "Let's pounce on mom's head so she'll wake up and play with me."

Samson got his first big-boy haircut this past weekend!
and just when I thought this furball couldn't get any cuter.....

Cheers to Monday!
Hope your day goes better than George-Michael's.

Feather Dream GIVEAWAY

Friday, August 22, 2014

Hi buddy!
(Lego Movie, anyone?)

So I have this super cool friend named Keri and she is an amaaaaaazing artist and graphic designer. Like one of those people who can make anything and everything look pretty. She could draw a stick figure and you'd want to frame it. She even has this awesome Instagram account called numberoftheday where she posts a unique graphic for every day of the year (see what I'm talking about here).

Keri recently moved from the mainland back to Hawaii, so she asked me if I could help her find a new home for one of her favorite original paintings. The painting is the amazing feather one in the pictures you see above and below! Yes, I know--like I said, she's amazing. I mean, look at the intricate detail she put into every feather! She even gave me her painting of a pretty Native American woman for me to hang in my home (shown in one of the pictures above)! Even more proof of her fantastic talent? She put together the main graphic of the giveaway aka the first picture in this post.

So what am I going to do with this beautiful feather painting?
Give it to one of you guys, of course!

It's a 16x20 canvas piece and will go to one lucky winner who enters the Rafflecopter below!

Between you and me, I have a gut feeling that Keri is going to become a super famous artist one day and if you win this giveaway, you'll be able to brag to your friends that you have an original Keri piece hanging in your home.
Yep.

Make sure to complete as many entries as you can to increase your chance at winning!
Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favor.

Bye Buddy!

Retro Glam Summer Beauty w/ Walgreens

Wednesday, August 20, 2014

#WalgreensBeauty #CollectiveBias

I don't know about you but I loooooove the Retro Glam look. Bold eyes, red lips, and voluminous curls, oh my! I especially love it during the summertime because I feel like it's the season to be bold and daring. It's also the perfect time to try out new looks and enhance your summer beauty!

Today I'm sharing with you my own version of a Retro Glam summer look! If you follow this step-by-step tutorial below, you'll be on your way to finding your inner vintage goddess (how cheezy am I?). You can find all these products at your local Walgreens, so head over now and shop away!

Let's begin, shall we?
You can't start any beauty look without moisturizing first! I used Studio 35 Beauty's Radiant Facial Moisturizer. I love moisturizers that have SPF in them because it's like getting two for the price of one! This moisturizer also evens your skin tone which is a definite plus!

After my moisturizer sets in, I put on foundation and filled in my brows. I then moved on to an essential part of any bold look, the eyes! For eyeliner I used Loreal Paris' The Infallible Blackbuster Eyeliner. I'm a huge endorser of winged liner and this eyeliner is perfect for that cateye look!

I've spent a couple years trying to master winged liner and I still have days where I completely mess up. If you lack skill in the cateye department, here is a nifty video tutorial by Lauren Conrad on how to create the perfect winged liner!

Next up, mascara!!! I used Rimmel's Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara because well, it flat out says Retro Glam in its name so how could you not use it for this look? I'm a big fan of Rimmel's products so I knew this mascara wouldn't disappoint.

I have really thin and short eyelashes (thanks to my asian genes) so I always need to make sure the mascara I use lengthens and thickens my lashes. The Scandaleyes mascara does just that! I put on about two layers and I could already see a huge difference (as opposed to the million layers I usually put on with other mascaras). Bold eyes, check!

Now on to the lips. I don't usually wear lipstick, but when I do, I use Rimmel's Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick (insert The Most Interesting Man in the World meme)! It's the perfect pop of color and lasts allllll day. If you're like me and have unfortunately dry lips, make sure to put on a lip moisturizer first before you put on lipstick!
Plus, I love Kate Moss sooooo that's a bonus.

The last step is le cheveux, aka the hair (my pathetic attempt at sounding fancy). Voluminous curls is a popular hairstyle when it comes to Retro Glam looks so why not complete the tutorial with it? I curled my hair using a curling wand and held it in place using Garnier Fructis' Full Control Anti-Humidity Hairspray. Aside from the fact that it holds any hairdo through any type of weather, it smells ahhhhhmazing! My hair absorbs scents like crazy (post bonfires are a nightmare) so it's essential to use only products that smell good if I don't want to be repulsed all day.

aaaaand, voila!
My Retro Glam summer beauty look!

Here's a look at myself before and after this tutorial!
Yes, I know. Shocking transformation, right?
Makeup definitely goes a long way with me. (awkward grin)

Hope you enjoyed my version of a Retro Glam look!
I'm often the one looking for makeup tips rather than giving them so it was fun being able to share some of my favorite products with you all!

Cheers.

I'm such a dude.

Swimsuit: La Blanca c/o Manhattan Beachwear
Kimono: H&M [similar]
Shorts: old [similar]
Sandals: Target

Today's outfit is very girly, bright, and pink.
Which makes me laugh because if you know me in real life,
you'd know that I am such a dude.

Obviously, I looooooove clothes, makeup, shopping, etc. (or else I wouldn't be a fashion blogger) but if you tuck that away to the side and really get to know me, you'll discover that I'm totally a tomboy.

I burp in public without even thinking twice.
The dress code in my home is the baggiest sweats you can find.
I played basketball and ran track and cross country in high school.
I have an obsession with sunflower seeds.
I'm embarrassed to even say when I took a shower last.
Fast food is a huge chunk of my personal food pyramid.
My home can go from spotless clean to a dirty pigsty in one day (and it's mostly my fault).
A day playing Assassin's Creed and Left for Dead on the Xbox with Connor (or even alone) is a day well spent.

and the list goes on and on.

Don't get me wrong, I promise that my love for fashion and beauty isn't a facade. I love getting dolled up in pretty dresses and going to fancy parties. I just also love dressing down in sweatpants and a messy bun and getting a Big Mac at McDonald's for din din. It's like the best of both worlds (cue Hannah Montana theme song).

I know this post might be a little TMI, but if you wanted to get to know me a little better, voila!

Also, I planned on posting this outfit/picture during Shark Week last week but epically failed.
But better late than never, right?
Jaws ain't got nothing on me.

Cheers.
