So this past Monday, the 27th, Samson Laddie Hamilton turned the Big 3 (I actually don't know if it's really "big" or not, it just felt appropriate to say hahaha)! It's seriously insane thinking about how fast time flew by--it seems like just yesterday he was too tiny to jump up on the bed. Now he's hogging the entire left side of it, forcing me and Connor to squish on the right. *sigh, dogs.... How they grow up so fast. #crazydogmom

And as if I'm not already obsessed enough with my dog, for his party we decided to host a Birthday Luau and invite all of his closest friends aka our human friends. Is it sad that more people showed up to our dog's birthday party than my own birthday party last year?.... Yeahhhh...

And I mean that in a nice way, not the "go away" way... ;)

The weather has been soooo beautiful this summer (maybe a little too beautiful, some days I'm close to getting heat stroke)! It's also flown by so fast and I'm starting to panic that I won't be able to do all the things on my summer bucket list before it's over! So the other day in the midst of all the craziness that is every day, I made Connor and I (and Samson) drop everything and go on a short little hike up the mountains. It wasn't a crazy, strenuous one or anything, just a small one that let us enjoy the view and get some fresh air! I also got to break in my Khombu Softshell Trail Shoes that are perfect for going on walks and short hikes! They were super comfy and added a little pop of purple to my outfit (because my outfits these days seriously need help in the color department haha).

So if you feel like you're watching summer go by in a flash and haven't even touched your summer bucket list, just take a break and have a little fun! It doesn't even have to be a long one. Go on a bike ride. Walk along a lake or river. Go get some shave ice! All of those things could take 30 minutes or less and I promise you, you'll feel 1000% better after. :)

I interrupt your lovely Friday to share with you this AMAAAAAZING roundie from a cute little company called Lady Scorpio 101. I've been dying for one of these for a while now and this one is just the right print/color/size/everything! Basically, it's perfect. I'll definitely be taking it to the beach and park a lot this summer! Lady Scorpio 101 has all the decor, tapestries, accessories, and jewelry to satisfy your inner gypsy. They seriously have the most impressive collection of tapestries with every design and color you can think of! Besides this cute roundie, I also have this gold gypsy mandala tapestry (that is beautifully humongous and hanging right behind our headboard--you might have seen it in my recent YouTube videos) and this moon phases wall hanging decor (which is ONLY $20 right now FYI). I'll be sharing those on my blog real soon and how I've used them to spruce up our apartment!

It's beginning to feel like summer is creeping in real slowly in Utah! It's weird because it's not super bright and sunny outside during the day, but the temperature is sky-rocketing up. I actually feel hot and sticky right now in our apartment--which means it's almost time to hook up the swamp cooler and run that loud baby on all night. Joy. But if putting up with an obnoxious swamp cooler is what it takes to welcome summer, I'm all for it bebe. SUMMER BRING IT ON!

Expectations vs. Reality: Having a Dog

In today’s video I share some expectations and realities of having a dog! Furry friends are awesome, but let’s be real. A lot of the time they don’t quite live up to our fantasies… That doesn’t mean we love them any less though, right??? I seriously adore my little Samson (if I haven’t made that obvious enough in all of my videos, haha).

HUGE props to Samson for actually cooperating in most of this video—anyone looking for a dog actor? ;) — and thanks to my friend Bri for dropping by during her lunch break to get harassed by Samson.

This is a formal warning.

I will be wearing A LOT of turtleneck and cowl neck sweaters on my blog this season.

I feel like turtlenecks are the best because it's basically a sweater and a scarf built into one! It keeps your neck nice and cozy, while still looking fab. This grey turtleneck from Windsor is one of my favorites by far because of how thick the knit is! The day we took these photos it was freeeeeezing but I was staying strong and keeping warm in my sweater! I also love how baggy it is (and no, I'm not trying to hide a baby bump, haha) because baggy = comfort, yaaasss. I'm kind of freaking out right now because we leave for Hawaii and Japan in TWO weeks and I feel like I am nowhere close to ready. I still have 3 videos to pre-film, many outfits to take photos of, and tons of cuddles to have with Samson!!! Did I mention we are leaving Samson behind for that entire month we are traveling? It's probably the saddest feeling ever (as of now). I hate that he's not going to understand why Connor and I won't be around for a long time. I know dogs can't tell time, but humans can so it's mostly gonna suck for me. But then on the bright side, I am going to Hawaii and Japan...... Why can't traveling overseas with pets be an easier process???

But really, how am I supposed to leave this face behind???

waaaaahhhhh.

Okay, I'm stopping before I start to ugly cry.
