Loose Summer Curls w/ NuMe + VIDEO

Thursday, June 25, 2015

Scroll to the bottom of this post to watch the video tutorial and for a sweet NuMe discount code!

Hey friends!

Today I've got a fun hair tutorial for you folks! I'm showing you how I get my Loose Summer Curls using the NuMe 32mm wand. The curling wand comes from a 5-in-1 styling set called the NuMe Lustrum that allows you to interchange five different barrel types and sizes to achieve your target hairstyle! I made a VIDEO (yep, a video!) to show you how I get these curls and you can watch that at the bottom of this post, but first let me tell you a little bit about this specific styling set!

The NuMe Lustrum collection of five 100% tourmaline-infused ceramic heat barrels come in 19mm, 25mm, 32mm, Reverse, and Pearl to offer a variety of looks to keep you looking fab every day of the week! The wand powers up to a perfect 410°F in a matter of seconds, and the safe guard lock makes switching barrels quick and easy so that you can change up your style on a whim. The set also comes with a heat-resistant glove so your fingers don't get burnt, and a carrying case so you can store your Lustrum set neatly, as well as take it on the go!

I absolutely love the NuMe Lustrum collection because it's such a great quality curling wand! I noticed that whenever I use it, my hair is just as gorgeous and curly the next day! The fact that I get to have curls that last days without touch ups is such a time-saver! I also love that I definitely won't need to buy another curling wand anytime soon because of how versatile this set is. The NuMe Lustrum will last me years to come, consistently giving me amazing results!

Okay, now on to the tutorial! In the video below I show you how I personally get my Loose Summer Curls and go from the Before look on the left, to the After look on the right (referring to the photo above). This hairstyle is quick and easy, and perfect for the summertime. I had so much fun putting together this tutorial for you folks so I really hope you enjoy it! If you'd like me to continue doing similar tutorials and videos like this, let me know! I'd love to hear some ideas of what to do next! xx

Make sure you use the discount code

Retro Glam Summer Beauty w/ Walgreens

Wednesday, August 20, 2014

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone.
#WalgreensBeauty #CollectiveBias

I don't know about you but I loooooove the Retro Glam look. Bold eyes, red lips, and voluminous curls, oh my! I especially love it during the summertime because I feel like it's the season to be bold and daring. It's also the perfect time to try out new looks and enhance your summer beauty!

Today I'm sharing with you my own version of a Retro Glam summer look! If you follow this step-by-step tutorial below, you'll be on your way to finding your inner vintage goddess (how cheezy am I?). You can find all these products at your local Walgreens, so head over now and shop away!

Let's begin, shall we?
You can't start any beauty look without moisturizing first! I used Studio 35 Beauty's Radiant Facial Moisturizer. I love moisturizers that have SPF in them because it's like getting two for the price of one! This moisturizer also evens your skin tone which is a definite plus!

After my moisturizer sets in, I put on foundation and filled in my brows. I then moved on to an essential part of any bold look, the eyes! For eyeliner I used Loreal Paris' The Infallible Blackbuster Eyeliner. I'm a huge endorser of winged liner and this eyeliner is perfect for that cateye look!

I've spent a couple years trying to master winged liner and I still have days where I completely mess up. If you lack skill in the cateye department, here is a nifty video tutorial by Lauren Conrad on how to create the perfect winged liner!

Next up, mascara!!! I used Rimmel's Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara because well, it flat out says Retro Glam in its name so how could you not use it for this look? I'm a big fan of Rimmel's products so I knew this mascara wouldn't disappoint.

I have really thin and short eyelashes (thanks to my asian genes) so I always need to make sure the mascara I use lengthens and thickens my lashes. The Scandaleyes mascara does just that! I put on about two layers and I could already see a huge difference (as opposed to the million layers I usually put on with other mascaras). Bold eyes, check!

Now on to the lips. I don't usually wear lipstick, but when I do, I use Rimmel's Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick (insert The Most Interesting Man in the World meme)! It's the perfect pop of color and lasts allllll day. If you're like me and have unfortunately dry lips, make sure to put on a lip moisturizer first before you put on lipstick!
Plus, I love Kate Moss sooooo that's a bonus.

The last step is le cheveux, aka the hair (my pathetic attempt at sounding fancy). Voluminous curls is a popular hairstyle when it comes to Retro Glam looks so why not complete the tutorial with it? I curled my hair using a curling wand and held it in place using Garnier Fructis' Full Control Anti-Humidity Hairspray. Aside from the fact that it holds any hairdo through any type of weather, it smells ahhhhhmazing! My hair absorbs scents like crazy (post bonfires are a nightmare) so it's essential to use only products that smell good if I don't want to be repulsed all day.

aaaaand, voila!
My Retro Glam summer beauty look!

Here's a look at myself before and after this tutorial!
Yes, I know. Shocking transformation, right?
Makeup definitely goes a long way with me. (awkward grin)

A closer shot of the final look:

Make sure to head over to your local Walgreens for all your summer beauty needs! If you make a $20 beauty and personal care purchase (excluding baby category) before August 30th, you can get a travel-size make-up brush set for FREE as a gift! Just visit THIS SITE to grab your coupon first!

Hope you enjoyed my version of a Retro Glam look!
I'm often the one looking for makeup tips rather than giving them so it was fun being able to share some of my favorite products with you all!

DIY Polaroid Display + Paxton Cove GIVEAWAY!

Tuesday, January 14, 2014

I got a Fujifilm Instax Mini camera for our wedding reception to take pictures of our guests (it was so much cooler than a traditional sign-in book). Being the bridezilla I was at the time, I ordered an enormous amount of film--you know, just in case. So for the past couple years, I've been having fun using up the extra film left over on the fun adventures we've been having!

However, I could never find a cute way to display all my pictures--until now!
Welcome to my DIY of how to make a cute polaroid display using some awesome items from Paxton Cove!

[Also, keep scrolling for an amazing giveaway!]

Here are the supplies you'll need: mini clothespins, washi tape (c/o Paxton Cove), string, and ribbon (also c/o Paxton Cove).
Any wide frame will do--depending on your amount of pictures. I had my handyman husband saw out the frame of a bulletin board.
Wrap washi tape around the frame, alternating between patterns or colors.
Tape a piece of string across the frame. Make sure it's secured and start clipping on your polaroids!
Tie a pretty little bow on top of the frame and hang up the frame using tacks (or whatever you use to hang things).

Voila!

I'm really happy with the way my polaroid display turned out! It adds a personal touch to our kitchen (because I seriously suck at decorating our apartment) and I couldn't have done it without the help of Paxton Cove! They also provided me with awesome chalkboard clips for my Hat Holder that I made--you can view that blog post HERE

Want to get crafty but have no supplies to get you started?
Well, Paxton Cove and I are teaming up for a sweet GIVEAWAY!
One lucky winner will win a set of amazing craft supplies shown below!

1. Chalkboard Clips: Perfect for weddings, showers, potlucks, and parties, these miniature chalkboard handy clips that make it easy to label dishes, drinks snacks, treats, and more! (2.6 inches x 1.8 inches)
2. Washi Tape: To put it simply, washi tape is a high quality masking tape made of rice paper. But more than that, washi tape is a material which is beautiful yet useful at the same time. You can tear it, stick it, reposition it, write on it... The low tack adhesive makes it extremely easy to use (and reuse). I think it is so popular because it is so easy to use--and looks good while doing it! (tape rolls approximately 3/4" to 1/2" x 10m)
3. Chevron Grosgrain Ribbon: These ribbons are great to use for scrapbooking, hair bows, woven headbands, many other craft projects, etc.
4. Washi Masking Sticker Set: *same description as regular Washi Tape but they are pre-cut!

DIY Hat Hanger

Monday, January 13, 2014

I've never had a convenient way to store my hats and beanies. I usually stack them in a nice pile on top of my dresser, but they always end up scattered everywhere whenever I sort through them for a specific hat. So, I finally got around to making my own hat hanger!

Yep! Ariel is getting crafty.

Here is a "tutorial" of how I made my nifty little hat hanger (I put quotations marks because the process is extremely easy so it's not much of an actual tutorial)!

Supplies needed:

Chalkboard Clips c/o Paxton Cove
chalkboard pens
string
tacks

These sweet little Chalkboard Clips are perfect for everything really--especially this craft project! They are perfect for weddings, showers, parties, and potlucks--you can use them to label dishes, drinks, snacks, treats, and more!
I drew different colored hearts on each Chalkboard Clip because I really couldn't think of anything else to draw.....
I cut up pieces of strings and hung them across the wall using tacks. Then I hung up my hats with the Chalkboard Clips just like hanging up clothes to dry on a clothesline! :)
Ta-da!

There you have it! An easy, yet cute way to organize and display your hats and beanies!

A big thanks to Paxton Cove for providing me with these cute Chalkboard Clips! Paxton Cove is a new daily deal site that launched in September! They offer online shoppers fabulous deals on handmade items, one of a kind items, designer inspired jewelry items, incredible crafting materials and goods, and anything that they think is an awesome product! You should definitely head over and check their amazing deals out!

Want to make a Hat Hanger of your own but don't have any Chalkboard Clips?
Well, tomorrow, Paxton Cove and I are giving you an opportunity to win some of your own Chalkboard Clips, along with some other crafty products!

I am also showing off another DIY project tomorrow--an awesome way to display your polaroid pictures!

So don't forget to tune in!

Cheers.

DIY Holiday Striped Nails

Monday, December 23, 2013

Woohoo!
Christmas is just around the corner! Are you ready?
Better question: Are your nails ready?

Haha, just kidding.
No, but really. Are they?
Because if they're not, I've got a fun tutorial today on how to make your nails all ready and glammed up for Christmas!

The tools that you'll need: tape, a base coat, red polish, gold polish, and a top coat.
1) After you file and clean your nails, paint on a layer of base coat (so you don't stain your nails red).
2) Paint yo nails red. I know, I'm HORRIBLE at coloring inside the lines...
3) Cut up thin slices of tape (size depending on how skinny or wide you want your stripes to be). Place the tape on top of your nails in the pattern that you want--MAKE SURE THAT YOUR NAILS ARE DRY BEFORE PLACING THE TAPE, or else the tape will peel the red polish right off.
4) Slather on some gold polish, making sure to cover every part that isn't protected by tape.
5) Wait for the gold polish to dry and SLOWLY peel off the tape. Clean up the edges of your nails and finish it off with a top coat!

Voila!
Holiday Striped Nails, just in time for Christmas!

You're welcome.
