Love, Buddy the Elf + Maple Syrup

Friday, October 31, 2014

Happy Halloween!

I am pretty proud of our Halloween costumes this year because they weren't put together last minute like I've done for the past 10 years (procrastinator is me). We decided Connor should be Buddy the Elf (which he was actually excited about it so I knew it was a winner) and found a good deal for his costume online, but when we looked up the Jovi costume, it was twice as much as the Buddy one--no bueno. We brainstormed for a bit and Connor came up with the genius idea that I should be maple syrup (because let's be real, Buddy loved syrup way more than Jovi.....)! Turns out, however, that pre-made maple syrup costumes DO NOT exist anywhere soooooo I made my own! :) I was pretty impressed with the results and not to toot our horns, but we might have won a couple awards at the Halloween parties we've been to. ;)

I was going to make Samson a candy corn costume (because elves try to stick to the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, CANDY CORNS, and syrup) but I ran out of time/got lazy. We inherited a couple of cute costumes from my dog, Flounder, back home so we opted for those instead. I'd say Samson is loving his first Halloween!
We carved pumpkins at our friend's house the other night. Can you guess which ones is ours? ;)

Hope everyone has a fantastic Halloween!
I'm so excited to see everyone's costumes all over Instagram!

Also, I hope this doesn't happen to anyone because it sucks when people just don't get it:

Cheers.

I'm a Cat: Grumpy Version

Monday, October 20, 2014

Top: c/o The Rare Ones
Jacket: c/o LuLu*s
Necklace: c/o Song Yee Designs
Boots: c/o LuLu*s
Cat Ears: Wet Seal

Remember last year when I was a cat for Halloween?
Well, I thought it would be funny if I just make it a tradition to share a different cat outfit every year for Halloween! Might as well give an annual purpose for owning these cat ears, right? ;)

This year, I went for the Grumpy Version of the cat.
(I was totally going to draw on a nose and whiskers but I forgot to bring my eyeliner to do it. FAIL)

When I saw this Grumpy Cat shirt on The Rare Ones, I fell in love. I thought it was hilarious because I'm obsessed with the real life Grumpy Cat so it was perfect! I figure I would make it my official shirt to wear whenever I'm in a grumpy mood. It'll give Connor a heads up to know how I'm feeling without even needing to ask. :)

The Rare Ones is an Etsy shop that sells embroidered clothing and accessories. Their designs are super unique and intricate, and they have such a variety to choose from! Some of my favorites are the Elephant, Robot, and Deer and they even have a Skull design shirt that's perfect for Halloween! Their shirts are all American Apparel so they're uber comfy and soft! Also, how adorable is this dainty little disc necklace from Song Yee Designs? She's the queen of pretty jewelry!

Can you believe Halloween is in less than 2 weeks? If you follow my Instagram, you might have seen me and Connor's couple costumes that we wore to our friends' Halloween party! I was really excited about this year's costumes because it's not the typical pairing you would think and I handmade my own costume!!!

If you are struggling with what you want to be for Halloween and need some inspo, there are some great Halloween ideas on The Good Stuff, which is Coupons.com's magazine. They have ideas for costumes inspired by Fall TV shows, last-minute costumes, and even adorable baby costumes! There is also a Coupons.com Halloween Creepstakes going on where you can win $100 in daily prize giveaways and a $3,000 grand prize. You can enter from now until October 31 so hurry, hurry!

What are some of your costume ideas for this Halloween??

Have a great week!

Cheers.

Cat Ears: Wet Seal
Sweater: Forever 21
Boots: Thrifted! [Similar]
Cat Tail: fur trim from the hood of one of my jackets. holla!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Did you catch my punny blog post title?
I'm so so clever, I know.

Halloween for me this year was a bit low key. To be honest, the only time I dressed up was for this outfit post (sad, I know). With how crazy school and life has been, I haven't had time to go to any Halloween parties and when I did have time, it was too late to find or make a cool costume. I am so ashamed of myself! I even had the awesome idea for Connor and I to be Wreck-It Ralph and Vanellope von Shweetz! How cute would that have been? Ugh.

Oh well. There's always next year, right?

So due to my lack of Halloween spirit this year, here is a glimpse at my Ghosts of Halloweens Past:
I think my all-time favorite might be Amy's grape costume.

What were your favorite Halloween costumes of the past (or even present)?

BTW,
Check out this awesome hair tutorial Elise from Suggestions Salon did on me! Go to Suggestions Salon's blog to view the full tutorial on how to create this crown braid! Maybe it will inspire one of you to be a milkmaid for Halloween! ;)

Stay Classy.
