Everyone else is always early

Thursday, July 31, 2014

Top: c/o Mindy Mae's Market
Jeans: Bullhead
Jacket: Wet Seal [similar]
Headband: Claire's
Sandals: c/o Aeropostale [similar]
Necklace: gift from Rachel [similar]

Today I'm sharing one of my favorite shirts from Mindy Mae's Market! If you're friends with me in real life, you know for a fact that I am ALWAYS late to everything and anything (although in my world, everyone else is simply always early). This shirt is basically the story of my life--in fact, I love it so much, I also have it in white (view that post here)! It's a bonus that it's also super comfy and goes with everything. Today I wore it with an outfit meant for a late night summer bonfire! Next time you're running behind schedule, throw this sweet tee on and when you get to your destination, your shirt will do the talking for ya. ;)

***************************

I've been spending the past week up in Seattle visiting Connor's family and it has been amaaaaazing. Seattle/Issaquah has become one of my favorite places and it's been on my "let's move here one day" list for a while now.

The summers here are particularly lovely because it's SO. INSANELY. PRETTY. The green trees + gorgeous lakes + summer sun = paradise. Yes, this is coming from a girl who was raised in Hawaii. You'll probably shake your head when you read this but I actually prefer lakes over the ocean (only when it comes to swimming--I am still obsessed with that ocean air). I think it's the fact that it's fresh water rather than salt water so I don't feel dirty and sticky whenever I come out from swimming. Connor's fam has a boat we take out whenever we visit and it's probably my favorite summer activity to do while up here.

The little lake above is a 5 minute walk from Connor's house.
Yes. I'm jealous too.

 Cheers.

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?

Why, Spongebob Squarepants does of course.

Does anyone remember the days when that show used to actually be cute and funny and not....creepy?
I watched a recent episode and it's just not as good as it used to be. Spongebob Squarepants definitely had its prime episodes in its earlier years.

Seriously, being a 90s/00s kid was the best.
Growing up watching Rugrats, All That, Dexter's Laboratory, Pokemon, Hey Arnold!, Recess, I could go on and on! Whatever happened to quality TV shows like those? Nowadays I can't even stand watching two minutes of anything playing on Cartoon Network...

Anyway, sorry about my little nostalgia rant. The pineapple on this cute Style Lately tank just reminded me of little Spongebob and that got me going on reminiscing on the good ole days. When the only decisions we stressed out about was which cartoon we were going to watch on Saturday morning.
Those were the days.

Also, is it just me or are pineapples totally in this summer?
Seriously, they're EVERYWHERE.
and I'm okay with that.
I may or may not have an outfit tomorrow that includes a pineapple tote! ;)

What were some of your favorite TV shows growing up?

Have a splendid dayyyy!

Cheers.

Yeah...I really own that.

Tee: Forever 21--old
Jeans: Bullhead
Shoes: Forever 21 c/o Coupons.com
Watch: c/o Arvo
Sunglasses: old [similar]
Necklace: H&M [similar]

So last week, I had the amazing honor of guest posting on Twenties Girl Style for Ashley's 'Yeah...I really own that' series! According to Ashley, a 'Yeah...I really own that' piece is "a piece of clothing you purchased at some point in time and are not really sure why. At the time of purchase it seemed like a great idea but eventually you forget all of the reason's why/how it made its way into your closet and are left with only feelings of buyer's remorse or embarrassment. You would think these would be the first things to go when you have a major closet purge, but for some reason or another you just can't let them go." I think this idea for a series is genius because we all really do have that one piece of clothing we have a secret love for! There are some amazing bloggers on the list of people who have already contributed to this series so be sure to check them all out HERE!

Anyway, I decided to share with you folks my 'Yeah...I really own that' piece today on my blog in case you missed it on Ashley's blog! Believe it or not I graduated from college with a degree in Film--it's a big passion of mine but I don't often get to practice it that often so a lot of people don't know I'm an undercover film geek. I love everything from comedies to documentaries but a favorite category of mine is classics--and what better classic is there than Star Wars?? So when I saw this "Boombox Stormtrooper"Tee at Forever 21, I couldn't resist buying it because it was just too perfect. My husband thinks its a little silly whenever I wear it out but I shamelessly love it. I've worn it to the gym, out to eat, and even dressed it up and featured it on my blog a while back (see that post HERE). For this outfit I gave it an edgy look with the skater shoes and spiked necklace--I was feeling nostalgic of my high school years when I thought I was Avril Lavigne... What can I say? This tee displays my hidden love for a classic 70s Sci-Fi flick.

Soooo yeah, I really own that.

Cheers.

Cardigan: c/o 90s Lullaby
Bracelet: c/o Eclectic Star
Headband: H&M [similar]
Necklace: borrowed from Lo
Jeans: Bullhead
Booties: Forever 21 [similar]

Before I talk about what's going down TONIGHT, I need to give shoutout to two amazing online boutiques! The adorable cardigan I'm wearing in today's post is from an awesome shop called 90s Lullaby. Their missions is to be a "Feel good, do good" company, which I am all for! I am pretty much obsessed with everything in their store right now--I especially love their outerwear and sunglasses. The sweet wrap bracelet I'm sporting is from the cutest jewelry store ever, Eclectic Star. Alisha, the owner, is a doll and extremely talented! I have insanely tiny wrists so I have the hardest time finding bracelets that don't slip right off--Alisha kindly custom-made my bracelet to fit nice and snug on my wrist. I wear it allll the time now!

Both companies have some sweet deals on free shipping: 90s Lullaby is offering free shipping on all domestic orders $75+ and Eclectic Star is offering free shipping on orders $50+ with the promo code FREE50. Check these shops out--you won't be disappointed!!!

*Breathe.
Okay.
AAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!
Tonight is the spring finale of Pretty Little Liars!!!!
I've seriously never been so excited about a TV show like this before.
I guess it's because I've been following this show since it first premiered and I've had so so soooo many questions since that first episode!!
and TONIGHT, apparently those questions WILL BE ANSWERED.
Seriously, so giddy right now.

Who buried Ali alive that night?
What really happened that summer Spencer was drugged out?
Where is CeCe?
What the heck happened to Toby?
Is Ali really going to "tell all?"

WHO IS A?????????

I really, really hope we get more answers than questions this time.
I know there is a season 5 underway so there is inevitably bound to be some sort of a cliffhanger,
BUT, I think it's safe to say that we all deserve some HUGE answers.
Like, REAL answers too.

None of this "OMG, TOBY IS ON THE A-TEAM!!!"
Psych, he's just protecting spencer.
"HOLY CRAP EZRA IS A!!!"
Just kidding, he's just an obsessed journalist.

So, please please please PLL producers.
Be kind to your loyal, devoted fans and give us the truth.
The whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

And so...
let the countdown begin.....

Kisses.

T-Shirt: c/o Style Lately
Cardigan: c/o LuLu*s
Necklace: Wet Seal [similar]
Jeans: Bullhead
Boots: Wet Seal

This outfit is perfect for a nice, lazy weekend, which I am hoping to have!
Style Lately has a great collection of comfy tees and tanks--like this Gold Heart Top--that are just right for lounging in or going out! And can I just say that this cardigan from LuLu*s is probably the coziest piece of clothing I've ever worn? Seriously, I could live in this thing.

For all you Utah peeps, don't forget that tomorrow at 2pm is the Gap fashion show at University Mall! I won't be walking the runway because I can't really walk like a normal person yet with my bum knee--let alone, walk on a runway haha. But I will be there supporting my blogger buddies that are walking the show! Gap also had us style our own mannequins with their clothes so be sure to drop by their store and check out the outfit I put together! It should be a fun event so swing by if you get a chance--and be sure to say hello if you see me there! :)

Cheers.

"If your train of thought is going nowhere, switch tracks."

I thought that quote was pretty appropriate considering the setting of my pictures today :)
What is it about train tracks that screaaaaaam "PHOTOSHOOOOT!!!"
I'm guessing it's the rustic, vintage look that makes them so appealing.
Despite the fact that its a bit cliche, I couldn't give up the opp to take some fun outfit pics here.
Oh, how I shamelessly love train tracks.

ps. that last picture is a bonus bloop just for you folks ;)
I am obviously great at balancing on things.
